The Cards are 2006 World Series Champs!

It was kind of different, I know what you mean. Hopefully, it won't be another 24 years and you can experience it with the Great Pumpkin a few times.

I wonder also if it could have been because, unlike 1982 and 2004, we weren't getting all jazzed about it all season. You know, people in other long-time baseball cities are really amazed at how we take our successes and our losses all in stride.

By the way, I thought of all of my online co-fans today. We went down to the parade, but didn't get in to the stadium. People all over the country logged on to get the free tickets, then sold them on e-bay. Perfectly legal - some guy in New York made $300 dollars on two tickets. It made me so mad.

But the parade was cool. Weather was perfect!!

Man, I wish I could have been at the parade. I was telling my wife the other day that we moved away two years too soon!!! ;-) Haven't been over to your blog yet this morning but I'm hoping you took some pics and will post them?? Please??!! heheh
Well as a father getting to watch it with his 7 year old son (and you too!), it is quite possible for me that this was greater than in '82. I think one of the biggest reasons is that we were the underdogs this year. I think another thing is that it had been 24 years. Having been away (in any permanent fashion) from St. Louis for nearly 20 years probably also helped it be a little more nostalgic for me. But probably most important, is that I was trying to soak in all of the emotions and reactions of my son. In time I will probably forgot the exact pitch that Wainwright used to strike out Inge, or the names of all of the Detroit pitchers who committed errors. But I don't think I'll ever forget the joyful embrace that I shared with my son (and you) in my kitchen on October 27, 2006 (though I probably will forget that date!).
